SEI 2017 Day 21 Update

Day Two of Travel Week

SEI staff and students enjoyed a slightly overcast, 26-degree Celsius day at one of two famous American theme parks: Disneyland and Universal Studios. These parks are both conveniently located within 65 miles of California Baptist University. Tomorrow staff and students will say goodbye to the beautiful CBU campus and head south to San Diego.

Created in 1955, Disneyland: The Happiest Place On Earth, is the only Disney park built under the supervision of Walt Disney. Disneyland has a rich history – upon opening, the park had 18 attractions, 14 of which are still in use today. The park has the largest cumulative attendance of any theme park, welcoming over 650 million guests since its opening. As a result, the park welcomes approximately 44,000 guests each day. Additionally, last year it was the third most visited park in the world – hosting over 16 million people from all across the world. SEI students were overwhelmed by the beauty and vastness of the park! Students loved visiting many of the famous Disney attractions such as Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the amazing fireworks show and Frozen LIVE! Disneyland is truly a magical place. Today was full of many smiles and joyous laughs as students got to visit such an iconic landmark with their SEI friends.

Universal Studios

Just like Disneyland, Universal Studios is one of the most popular destinations in California, and has become increasingly more popular over the last few years. Built in 1964, the park is the official “movie lover” destination, offering more than 15 high-caliber exciting attractions. Unique to Universal Studios is the large amount of 4-D, HD, and interactive simulations. Rather than offering high-powered roller coasters, the park takes pride in the special effects, paired with their rides, that create the “ultimate interactive experience!” Many SEI students were ecstatic to visit one of the parks newest attractions: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This large addition to the park offers detailed replications of famous landmarks in various Harry Potter Movies, amazing shopping, and excellent Potter style food. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened last year and is already one of the most talked about attractions in the world. Many students purchased a variety of Potter paraphernalia to commemorate their visit to the park. These larger than life film-based exhibits resulted in smiles, laughter and an occasional scream from our SEI students! Whether SEI students visited Disneyland or Universal Studios, they all created memories that will last a lifetime at some of the happiest places on earth.
